Finding Truth in the Age of AI

Is it just me, or does it seem to get increasingly harder to know what it real and true in our world? With the advance of AI, its becoming harder to know what images are doctored, real or altogether fake. And on top of that we've all been hearing about "fake news" for the last few years.

This has led our society to become a lot more suspicious. Social media feeds are full of all sorts of conspiracy theories about everything from dolphins to Helen Keller, to Himalayan salt. Though many of these trends are invented by people with great imaginations, it does leave us to sometimes wonder how many lies we have believed about the world-- especially when we discover the reality of things like the Epstein files and other overwhelming ugly truths.

It can be interesting, and also at times unsettling.

A Truth That Doesn't Change

As I reflected this week I was struck by the reality that the one and only thing we can know for certain is that the Bible is true. God does not change. His Word to us and the history he has shared with us, as well as the narrative of our current world and future hope-- it is all rock solid.

There is no "fake news" or doctored imagery in the Bible. There is no conspiracy behind it. There is only a good and loving Father who wants us to know the truth.

But how can we be sure it is true? It is, after all, thousands of years old.

Evidence That the Bible is True

Let me give you a few quick stats:

  • We have over 24,000 copies of the original manuscript in various ancient languages, all that confirm the same exact message, and within a few hundred years of the people who wrote them. This is an unprecedented number for ancient manuscripts; for example Plato's works have only seven surviving manuscripts that are dated to nearly 1200 years after he lived, and Aristotle's works have only five manuscript copies that are dated at 1400 years after he lived. (see this article by the Institute for Creation Research to learn more.)

  • Archeology confirms the Bible, both for the Old and New Testaments. Some important discoveries have included The Dead Sea Scrolls, Inscriptions on ancient papyrus or rocks that confirm names, dynasties and cities that are described in the Bible, as well as the discoveries of specific places that are mentioned in the Bible like the pool of Saloam. We also have evidence around the globe that points to a catastrophic flood like the one described in Genesis. (For more about Biblical archeology finds, please check out this article by the Bible Archeology Report)

  • Fulfilled prophecy is another key indicator that the Bible can be trusted. Nearly 500 prophecies about Jesus, which were spoken hundreds and even thousands of years before he lived, all came true. (to learn more about fulfilled prophecy, click here)

Why This Matters More Than Ever

It is comforting to know that the Bible is true. It is full of rich encouragement, conviction, and inspiration. It points the way to what is right and real like a lighthouse shines on a dark stormy night.

But, so few people (including Christians) actually read it regularly. So many of us tack in onto our to-do lists, and leave it for the last item that may or may not happen depending on how tired we are. But then we average three hours of screen time per day on our social media devices (scrolling through more conspiracies!).

All the while we are missing something crucial: reading the Bible and getting to soak in truth is the way we get to know God. Without that, we are left trying to do life on our own and lacking the knowledge of the spiritual reality happening around us and in us.

Curiosity About God is Growing

The American Bible Association released a study last year announcing that this lack of interest in the Bible is starting to shift, however.

“For the first time since 2021, we’re seeing an increase in both Bible Use and Scripture engagement, particularly among younger adults and in men,” said John Farquhar Plake, PhD, American Bible Society’s Chief Innovation Officer and editor-in-chief of the State of the Bible series. “People are curious about the Bible and Jesus.

Some key findings included a jump in Bible users from from 38% to 41% who read the bible a minimum of three times pers year. The most surprising increases were in the two groups who previously were the least likely to use the Bible: men (who had a 19 percent increase) and Millennials (with a 29 percent increase).

This week in Washington DC there has been an ongoing event called America Reads the Bible, in honor of the nations 250th birthday. The Bible is being read out loud from Genesis to Revelation, by influencers, actors, government officials, and pastors.

In a time when nothing seems certain, the rock solid truth is being declared out loud, in our nations capitol. How exciting!

Don't Miss What Matters Most

Don't miss it! If you can't listen to the event live, then tune into your own Bible. Fill your mind with the on'y thing that is certainly real: God's Word.

When you do, two things will happen:

  1. You will discover the way to live.

Psalms 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."

  1. You will see the reality of God, and it will stir you.

Nehemiah 8:3-8

"He (Ezra) faced the square just inside the Water Gate from early morning until noon and read aloud to everyone who could understand. All the people listened closely to the Book of the Law. Ezra the scribe stood on a high wooden platform that had been made for the occasion...Ezra stood on the platform in full view of all the people. When they saw him open the book, they all rose to their feet. Then Ezra praised the LORD, the great God, and all the people chanted, “Amen! Amen!” as they lifted their hands. Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground." (NLT)

Choose What Will Shape You

What we choose to fill our minds with will shape what we believe is real.

In a world where images can be fabricated, headlines can be manipulated, and opinions shift by the hour, we are constantly being formed by something. The question is not if we are being shaped—but by what.

Will it be the endless scroll of speculation and suspicion?Or will it be the steady, unchanging truth of God’s Word? One leads to anxiety, the other to peace.

The invitation is simple, but it is not passive. It requires intention. It requires time. It requires choosing, day after day, to open the Bible not as an obligation, but as a lifeline.

When we return to Scripture consistently, something begins to change. The noise quiets. The confusion starts to clear. What once felt uncertain begins to steady.

Not because the world has become more trustworthy—but because we have anchored ourselves to something that is. (Hebrews 6:19)

So if everything around you feels questionable, start here.

Open the Word.

Read it slowly.

Let it speak.

You may not find all the answers at once—but you will find something better:

A foundation that doesn’t move.
